Fat-transfer & Lipo-sculpting

While all hyaluronic acid fillers work quite well when appropriately placed, the most natural and compatible filler is your own body fat.
Facial fat loss is a normal part of the aging process and can make a healthy physically fit middle-aged woman look older than she feels.

When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Shaer will discuss the areas of concern that you want to address, and if facial volume loss has led to facial aging, he may suggest a minimally-invasive surgical fat transfer or a non-surgical liquid facelift. Either procedure will adequately rejuvenate your face and restore the healthy curvaceous appearance to complete the youthful oval shape.
The fat transfer is done under light sedation in a clinical operating room setting, liposuction removes the fat from either your abdomen, outer hip, inner thigh, or even inner knees, and the fat cells are then purified to be re-inserted into the selected regions of the face.
More fat than needed is usually inserted, allowing for the body’s natural elimination process to remove the excess fat. Bodies reabsorb fat at different rates, so the results may last from three months to three years in some cases.

  • The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia, lasting 1 to 2 hours;

  • Bruising may occur at the site of liposuction lasting 7 – 10 days;

  • Expect some swelling at the injection site, icepacks are recommended to speed recovery;

  • There may be sutures at the small 1-cm incisional site of liposuction;

  • Pain and discomfort is very mild, pain medication are often not required;

  • Downtime is minimal, few days away from work due to mild swelling;

  • Gentle exercise avoided for 2 weeks, and strenuous exercise avoided for 1 month;

  • Results are immediate once swelling diminishes.
